Community
In ‘Honey’ the community faces many challenges and struggles, that include many families in Honey’s neighbourhood going through poverty, lack of basic resources and facing unemployment. The community centre and where the kids hang out are poorly funded, not giving these young people much to do. Although Honey does have a dance studio giving kids a place to be themselves and be safe. Honey wants to achieve her goals and do well for herself while also hopefully helping her neighbourhood and her students.

Representation 

‘Honey’ features a Latina actress (Jessica Alba) in the lead role (Honey Daniel’s) displaying a strong and independent young woman most likely in a black and brown community. This film has been deeply criticised for maintaining or romanticising like the ‘urban savior’ term, where the main character is seen as the reason for uplift ment.
