Q5. How are camera shots and mise-en-scene used to create an effect on the audience in the Water Aid advert (Figure 2)?
They use close up shots to present a clear image the boy's disappointment on his face. this makes the audience feel a sense of regret and fear for what might happen to the boy in the advert if this continues. Furthermore they arrange the props and the background of the advert to make it seem like this is set in Africa and the boy's old worn out clothes represent so many of the other poor kids in the country. the sun is shining and producing heat constantly which doesn't really help the citizens. This gives the audience the idea that maybe if they donate and help out, they could really make a huge difference and put smiles on the people in need's faces.
Q6. Why might charities use pictures of children in their advertising?
Charities might use pictures of children to indicate that they are nothing but innocent and worthy of saving because they have along life ahead of them and need to be fully developed with what they are supposed to have but don't. This guilt trips the audence.
