 1) Which part of Media are you looking forward to the most?

    The part of media I'm looking forward to is learning more about other types of media, not just on the internet.

2) What knowledge and skills do you hope to learn in Media?

I hope to learn every skill and know how to publish all types of media.

3) What grade are you realistically hoping to achieve in Media?

Im hoping to achieve at least a grade 4-5 to pass or higher.

4) What device do you use most to access the media? (The media = news, TV, music, film, social media etc.) I use my phone or ipad to access the media.


5) What is your average 'screen time' (or equivalent) on your phone each day. Is this about right, too little or too much? Why? I spend a lot of time on my screens, 3 hours pass by and it feels like 1 hour.


6) What was the last TV programme or film you watched?

The last series i watched was ICarly [im still watching it]

7) What device or subscription do you use to listen to music?

I use spotify for music

8) Do you play videogames? If so, what do you play games on and what is your favourite game? I don’t really play videogames but when i do on rare occasions its either mario cart or minecraft just for fun.


9) Are you on social media? If so, what social media do you have and why do you like it? I am on social media i have snapchat, instagram, tiktok but i dislike the fact that i enjoy those.


10) Finally, do you think the media is a positive or negative thing for young people? Why? Honestly i think it depends on what side of the media they are on like if they use it for help with work or just innocently admiring other creators then its positive. But if they are just using it for bad advice and comparison or posting bad things or even cyberbullying then its definitely a negative thing.

 passive audience -  audience that merely observes and consumes media content without critical engagement or personal interpretation .  active audience -   a group of individuals who actively engage with, interpret, and sometimes challenge the media messages they consume .  hypodermic needle theory - an outdated and simplistic model of mass communication that suggests the media has a direct, immediate, and powerful effect on its audience .  Re-watch the clip from Blue Planet above and write a paragraph analysing how elements of the clip offer the audience pleasures or gratifications (use media terminology from Uses and Gratifications theory and the 3 Vs - notes outlined above).  A typical  Blue Planet  clip provides various pleasures through  surveillance  and  entertainment  gratifications.
